Women’s Asia Cup 2024: Defending champions India aim to make it 2 in a row

The ninth edition of the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 is all set to get underway on July 19 in Sri Lanka and India will once again be the favourites for the title. Harmanpreet Kaur and her side are the defending champions as they look to retain the crown with the Asia Cup holding some extra significance this time. The tournament happens a couple of months before the T20 World Cup in Bangladesh and will act as the final chance for the teams to get their preparations in.

The tournament will also have 8 teams participating this time around and they will be split into 2 groups. India are in Group A along with Pakistan, Nepal and UAE while hosts Sri Lanka, former champions Bangladesh along with Malaysia and Thailand constitute Group B. India will have their first match against arch-rivals Pakistan on the opening day, which is expected to set the tone for the entire tournament.
